Incident

For an emoji sent as a standalone message, the emoji code is not displayed on hover

Issue Summary:
On Wednesday, October 26th at 2:15 PM PST Friday to October 28th 9:12 PM PST, some users were unable to view emoji/code previews when hovering their cursor over messages containing emojis. Upon investigation, we discovered that an error had occurred with the jumbomoji (a message with just an emoji) previewer during the process of a backend code-change we were performing related to emoji. Once we learned this, we were able to deploy a fix which rectified this issue for all affected users.

2:09 PM PST

We've resolved the issue involving emoji codes not appearing properly when an emoji is sent as a standalone message. If you're still encountering any trouble, please reload Slack using Command + Shift + R (Mac) or Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows/Linux). Thank you for your patience while we sorted out this issue.

Some customers are currently not seeing emoji codes when hovering over an emoji sent as a standalone message. Hovering over an emoji reaction and or an emoji included within a message still works as expected. Apologies for the disruption. We are working to resolve this issue.
