Trouble with search

Technical Summary:
At 6:19pmPT on August 22, 2018 a change was deployed that caused Search to fail for all customers when they reloaded Slack on desktop or in a browser. This change was part of a larger effort we are taking to modernize and improve Slack performance.

The regression was identified at 6:35pmPT and reverting the change restored search functionality for all customers by 8:29pmPT. We have planned to add additional logging and testing activities to prevent this from happening in the future.

Issues with editing snippets

Technical Summary:
On the 22nd of August at 2:46pm (PT) we received some user reports of snippets appearing blank when opened for editing. Our investigation revealed that this was caused by some updates to file and snippet code earlier in the day. We deployed a fix and normal editing functionality was restored at 6:20pm (PT).

We reverted the original snippet fix in order to address a concurrent issue with our search feature. We deployed a second fix shortly after, and snippet editing returned to normal at 9:04pm (PT).

We are now working on improvements to ensure this doesn’t happen in the future. If you are experiencing any further troubles please reach out to us at feedback@slack.com.

New Threads not showing up in the channel list on Enterprise Grid

Technical Summary:
On August 22nd at 06:48 AM (PT) we deployed a change for fetching threads that logged data in an undesired format. Addressing the formatting error caused notification failures for some customers when new threads were updated. We reverted the change and thread notifications were restored at 07:57 AM (PT). We are now working on testing and logging improvements to ensure this doesn’t happen in the future.
