Issue Summary: On August 23, 2019 at 10:50 a.m. PDT, some customers reported seeing issues with their direct messages (DMs) not showing on the sidebar in their workspace. Our team investigated and discovered that a recently deployed code change meant to prevent redundant loading of member data caused a regression. This resulted in Slack not fetching the necessary member data to show DMs in the sidebar. Our team was then able to remedy the initial code change, resolving the issue for all customers on August 23, 2019 at 4:05 p.m. PDT.

We have identified the issue causing DMs be removed from the sidebar, and we have rolled out a fix. Clearing your cache and refreshing should solve this issue. Stars missing from the sidebar has been identified as an iOS bug. Anyone who wrote in about this issue will be contacted when we've resolved the bug. Thanks for your patience!

We're still looking into why starred channels and DMs may not be appearing in the sidebar. For now, these conversations are still accessible via search and keyboard shortcuts. We'll continue to keep you posted as more news becomes available.
