Trouble with group direct messages (DM) and private channels

Issue Summary:

On March 10, 2020 at 6:30 a.m. PDT, one of our backend services started running into performance problems, so some users were unable to start new group DMs in Slack. We introduced measures to mitigate the impact and moved to scale up the relevant part of our infrastructure. The problem was fully resolved by March 11, 2020 at 11:02 a.m PDT.

For those affected, we're happy to report group DMs and newly created private channels are working as expected. We're sorry for the disruption, and we appreciate your patience.

We've received some reports that people may be unable to add members to newly created private channels. We're looking into this now as well, and we'll be back as soon as we have more information.

Some people might encounter troubles with group DMs, such as sending messages within and creating new group DMs. We're currently investigating this issue.
