Incident
Issues with screen sharing
Issue summary:
On July 23, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. PDT through 10:45 a.m. PDT, we experienced an issue preventing users from sharing their screens during Slack calls. This issue was caused by a recent change designed to improve our ability to check whether sandboxing is enabled, but was missing some sets of variables upon which this change relied. We reverted the change and full functionality of our screen sharing feature was restored.

Screen sharing should now be running smoothly for all customers. If you're still encountering any issues, please try reloading Slack twice. If that doesn't do the trick, let us know at feedback@slack.com.
Thanks again for bearing with us in the meantime and we're sorry for any interruption this may have caused to your day.
11:48 AM PST
While we work to get this issue completely fixed, folks should now be able to share their screens after reloading Slack (Command/Control + R) twice in a row.
11:25 AM PST
We’re making progress towards a fix, but we don’t have any new information to share just yet. We’ll provide another update as soon as we have more news.
10:55 AM PST
We're continuing to investigate in order to restore screen sharing functionality as soon as possible. We'll continue to keep you posted.
10:20 AM PST
Some customers may be unable to use our screen sharing feature. We're currently looking into this further and will be back once we have more details to share. Thank you for your patience while we investigate further.
