Incident

Trouble with imports and exports

Issue summary:
Starting at 3:17 a.m. PDT on September 14, 2020, we received reports that some data exports and data imports were stalled or stuck on 'Waiting'.

Our initial investigation revealed a backlog of exports awaiting processing. We increased the processing capacity while we investigated further.

We discovered that a change on September 8, 2020 inadvertently introduced a bug that caused some duplicate export requests. The duplicated requests piled up, causing processing delays to data imports and data exports. We deployed a fix to correct the issue, preventing further duplicate requests.

While we previously reported that exports were still delayed at 11:43 a.m. PDT, we've confirmed imports and exports were no longer delayed after 10:14 a.m. PDT on September 14, 2020, and the issue was resolved at this time.

12:03 AM PST

Exports should no longer be delayed. We appreciate you sticking with us and apologize for the interruption.

2:32 PM PST

We're happy to report that imports should be working as expected now. Users will continue to experience delays with exports, and we're actively working on resolving this issue. Thanks for your continued patience.

11:43 AM PST

We've received reports of some users being unable to use imports or exports at this time. Our team is investigating, and we'll share more news just as soon as we have it. We appreciate you bearing with us.

Users unable to connect to Slack

Issue summary:
On September 14, 2020 around 5:00 a.m. PDT, we received reports that some users in Europe experienced connection timeouts and had trouble loading Slack.

We carried out an investigation and observed trends with ISPs throughout Europe, but found no evidence of an issue on our side. While we took no direct remedial action, before 7:00 a.m. PDT, we saw connection errors return to expected levels and received confirmation from some users that they could load Slack again.

10:57 AM PST

We've confirmed that users should now be able to connect to Slack again. Should you experience any further issues, we recommend reaching out to your ISP. Thank you for your patience as we investigated the issue.

7:22 AM PST

We believe the connectivity trouble users are facing is the result of an upstream issue with some Internet Service Providers (ISP). We would recommend that those impacted reach out to their ISP for troubleshooting.

6:56 AM PST

Some users are experiencing issues connecting to Slack. We're currently investigating, and we'll share more information as soon as it becomes available. Apologies for the inconvenience.
