Incident

Some Mac users with the App Store version 4.10 are experiencing issues

Issue summary:
On October 6, 2020 around 12:00 p.m. PDT, a new version (4.10.0) of the desktop app was released to the Mac App Store.

This version had a bug, which caused the desktop app to crash for some users. To resolve the issue, we needed to send a new version (4.10.1) to the App Store for users to update to.

On October 7, 2020 around 10:00 a.m. PDT, this new version began rolling out. Affected users can resolve the issue by updating to 4.10.1 once that version is available to them in the App Store.

For those users who switched to using the direct download version from our website, but would now like to download the desktop app from the App Store, please see the below details.

To uninstall the direct download version that's been downloaded from our website, follow the 'Direct Download version' steps in this Help Center article:

Thank you for your patience.

Please note this update has been edited. We said we removed the affected build from the App Store; however, this wasn't the case, and we've removed that comment.

Some users running the Slack desktop app version 4.10 from the App Store are encountering a crash. A pop-up shows the message "A JavaScript error occurred in the main process." We're investigating, and we're sorry for the trouble.
