Incident

Degraded performance for some customers

Issue summary:
On April 21, 2021 from around 3:00 p.m. to 6:38 p.m. PDT, some customers may have experienced delays with notification delivery, link previews, and some administrative actions.

We made a change which inadvertently introduced a syntax error in the system that processes tasks in Slack. These tasks began piling up, resulting in degraded performance of some features.

We resolved the issue by rolling back the change, then monitored the queue to ensure that the backlogged tasks were processed.

10:27 PM PST

We’ve confirmed that performance should be fully restored now. Customers should no longer be encountering trouble.

Apologies again for any disruption caused, and we’ll follow-up here with a summary shortly.

8:12 PM PST

We’ve made a change and we've started to see improvements, but we’re still monitoring the situation closely. We’ll be back with an update as soon as we can confirm that performance is fully restored. Thank you for bearing with us.
