Mobile notifications are delayed on Android

Issue summary:
From April 6, 2021 around 11:55 p.m. to around 5:40 a.m. PDT on April 7, 2021, some users experienced delays receiving mobile notifications on Android.

While performing maintenance, we removed some of the servers involved in delivering push notifications on mobile. This removal resulted in additional load on the remaining servers, so some users didn't receive mobile notifications as soon as expected.

In response, we increased capacity to manage the additional load. Affected users should no longer see this delay in receiving mobile notifications.

Note: On April 6, 2021 at 4:02 p.m. PDT, we posted this site about an issue with delayed mobile notifications on Android. While both of these issues resulted in mobile notifications being delayed, they had different root causes. We've updated this title to specify this issue involved Android specifically (not all mobile devices).

Thank you for your patience. People affected by notification delays should no longer be having trouble. We've rolled out a fix and we've confirmed notifications are back to normal. We're sorry for any disruption experienced.

Tap Notifications.
Tap Troubleshoot Notifications to run the diagnostic test.
Open the menu on the top right and use Send Report to get in touch with us.
