Incident

Trouble loading threads, the Mentions & reactions view, and App Directory views

Issue summary:
On September 12, 2021 from 10:04 a.m. until September 13, 2021 at 1:41 p.m. PDT, some customers were unable to load threads, "Mentions & reactions", and apps from the App Directory.

We made a change to our infrastructure, which modified how we encode certain data. This change inadvertently caused a conflict for some threads, mentions, reactions, and App Directory entries with unexpected combinations of attributes.

We identified the issue and added support for these combinations, resolving the issue for all affected users.

8:00 PM PST

App configurations should be accessible once more. Some users were also unable to load "Mentions & reactions" in Slack, and this is now resolved as well. We've updated the title to reflect this and clarify that multiple views/sections in the App Directory might've failed to load.

We appreciate your patience. If you're encountering any trouble, please let us know at feedback@slack.com.

1:49 PM PST

Threads should be loading once again. Please refresh (Control/Command + R), open an affected thread, and let us know if you encounter any trouble.

We're working on a fix for configuring apps, and we'll be back once we have an update.

12:33 PM PST

We've identified that this issue may only be impacting Enterprise Grid customers and may also be causing issues with configuring apps from the App Directory. We are investigating this while actively working on a fix for viewing/loading threads.

12:02 PM PST

Some users may experiencing problems viewing or loading threads. Thank you for your patience while we investigate further.
