Service degradation between 8:43 a.m. and 9:16 a.m. PDT

Issue summary:
On September 17, 2021 from around 8:43 a.m. to 9:16 a.m. PDT, users may've encountered degraded service in Slack, such as messages failing to send.

During this time, requests were slower to complete and affected customers experienced slowness in Slack. For roughly 24 seconds during this period, all customers encountered trouble when using Slack.

Requests recovered thereafter.

Note: We've updated the incident title and added affected services to more accurately reflect our understanding of the problem.
