Issue summary:
Starting January 7, 2022 around 12:45 p.m. PST, we received some reports that users were unable to see names in the sidebar and in search results.

After receiving an uptick in reports starting January 10 around 8:24 a.m. PST, we began investigating the problem as a matter of priority. At around 9:29 a.m. PST, we identified that some customers' security software was inadvertently blocking connections to edgeapi.slack.com.

We advised all affected users to reach out to their IT/network team for assistance with troubleshooting their connection setup, providing a Help Center article as a guide.

We believe that the trouble with viewing names in Slack is a result of a downstream issue with some security software blocking connections to Slack. We would recommend that those impacted reach out to their IT or network teams to troubleshoot connection attempts to edgeapi.slack.com.
