Some customers are unable to receive 2FA SMS messages

On January 14, 2022 from 5:50 a.m. to 12:59 p.m. PST, some users may not have received 2FA SMS authentication messages.

These issues were traced back to an upstream provider that was experiencing trouble with one of their hardware configurations.

The upstream provider resolved the issue, and users began to receive 2FA SMS authentication messages as normal from 12:59 p.m.

10:23 PM PST

All users should now be receiving 2FA SMS messages. A very small number of users may continue to receive 2FA SMS messages on a delay. If you experience this issue, please reach out to feedback@slack.com for further updates. Thank you for bearing with us and we apologize for any disruption this may have caused to your day.

4:35 PM PST

While the issue with 2FA is not clear yet, our upstream provider has reported signs of recovery. We're continuing to monitor this issue and will share more updates when they become available.

2:30 PM PST

We're still investigating issues with 2FA SMS messages.

In the meantime, while we recognize these aren't ideal solutions, as a workaround you can use a backup code or reach out to a Workspace Owner or Admin to disable 2FA for your account. They'll be able to do so from the Members page: https://my.slack.com/admin

8:46 AM PST

Some customers are unable to receive 2FA (two-factor authentication) SMS messages. This is due to an issue experienced by one of our upstream partners. We are investigating further and will share back when we have more updates.
